What Parishes Ask
How long does it take to schedule a month?
About half an hour, most of which is reading. Ordio proposes the whole month in one pass from the Mass schedule already in your calendar, you move whoever you want to move, and you publish. Filling the same month by hand is eight hours or more for most parishes, and most of that is spent on the telephone.
Do we have to use it for every ministry?
No. You choose which departments it schedules. Most parishes turn it on for Liturgy and never for Facilities, and the rest of the calendar carries on exactly as it was.
What if it puts the wrong person somewhere?
Move them. Ordio proposes a month and writes nothing at all until you publish it, and because every name carries the reason it was chosen you can see precisely what you are overriding. Anyone you place by hand stays where you put them.

Tell it once and they stay there. Standing assignments and teams are the same thing in Ordio, and the engine schedules around them rather than through them.
How does it decide who to ask?
By who is trained for the ministry, who is available, who has served least recently, and what each person said they could take. It refuses anyone whose safeguarding has lapsed, anyone already committed at that hour, and anyone over the monthly limit they set for themselves. Families are kept together or apart as they asked.
Does it send reminder emails or text messages?
Reminder emails, yes: before each Mass, everyone serving gets a short note saying what they are on, and replies go to the parish office rather than to a machine. Text message reminders are on the way, and when they arrive they are included rather than billed by the message, which is not how the software most parishes use prices them.
What does a volunteer have to do?
Open one page and press Yes or Can't. It shows what they are on, who is serving with them, and nothing else about the parish: not the roster, not other people's contact details, not the notes on an event. Nothing needs installing: it opens in the browser already on their phone.
Does the scheduler work without the Ordio calendar?
No, and that is why it is quick to set up. It reads the Mass times, rooms, ministries and people already in your calendar, so switching it on is a switch rather than an afternoon of typing your schedule in a second time.
What does it cost?
